December 17th 2009 ![]() George Michael and X-Factor winner Joe McElderry have caused outrage by performing an expletive laden cover of Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name Of on Radio 5live's otherwise shite breakfast show.
The duet was performed as Joe promoted his X-Factor single Instantly Forgettable while he battles Rage Against The Machine for the Christmas number one slot. Although they had promised to perform a clean version of the track Michael allegedly turned to McElderry with a cheeky wink half way through the song before beginning to bellow the refrain 'fuck you, I won't do what you tell me.'
At one point the excitable McElderry became carried away and broke from the main lyric entirely, singing "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK, FUCK, FUCKING FUCKERISH FUCK-FUCKS!" Michael George was heard to offer his apologies while McElderry continued an expletive laden rant in the background, shouting "No! I like to say fuck! I couldn't give two flying monkey-fucks! FUCK! FUUUUUUUUUUCK!"
One report alleges that Nicky Campbell was too busy snorting lines of coke off a hookers ass before attempting to crowd surf by jumping on his producer to stop the offensive performance, but his colleague, presenter Shelagh Fogarty, was faster off the mark. She interrupted the performance and said "Sorry about that, we didn't expect them to do that bit of the song, they weren't meant to swear at all, the shits."
Meanwhile Rage Against The Machine performed their cover of Mistletoe and Wine on Christian FM.
The error occurred less than 24 hours after Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams dropped a paperweight on his toe during an interview with Chris Evans on Radio 2, inadvertently causing him to shout "Twat it!" The Archbishop apologised immediately and profusely, but made a second mistake when he thought he was off air, commenting to Evans "I'm really so sorry about that, but it really hurt.
"My toe's throbbing like a cock in a brothel."
